LHS is short for Left-Hand Side, meaning everything to the left of the equals sign in an equation. For example, in 3x+1=73x + 1 = 7, the LHS is 3x+13x + 1.

In an equation of the form A=BA = B, the LHS refers to the expression AA — the entire expression that appears on the left side of the equality symbol.
